Llinv Vararrif, Earth name Marl Kempton, a seventeen year old alien travels two hundred light year to the planet Earth with his fellow Trothians hoping to find a new planet after theirs was destroyed. Just before he was put into his cryogenic unit he witnessed Zarkoff changing the timing on another unit causing the man to awakening 100 years ahead of the rest! Zarkoff discovers that he saw him and when Mark is put in his unit he changes the setting on his hoping to kill him but only delaying his awakening by 10 years. When he awakens, he discovers that the girl he wanted to be pared off with is married and has a daughter.
When Zarkoff learns that Mark has awaken he panics and he steal and shuttle and kidnaps him intending to kill him by ejecting him into the Earth’s atmosphere.
The shuttle taking them to Earth crashes and Mark escapes and is then alone on a hostile planet. In his first encounters with humans, he experiences all types of difficulties because of his lack of understanding of human nature, some funny and some dangerous. Particularly his lack of understanding of the female species involves him in all sorts of difficulties.
He assumes a new identity as a student of marine biology at a university where he is attracted to another student, Peggy Magnuson.
Zarkoff, who plans to dominate the Earth, discovers Mark's new identity and sends his powerful assassins, humans controlled by electronic implants and with drug-enhanced strength, to kill him.
Mark must leave Peggy to join his people in defeating Zarkoff whose power on Earth is growing alarmingly rapidly. Glimmer of Hope
Tony Greenland, an American working in the UK, finds himself in a hospital with a complete loss of memory. He sustained serious head injuries when he fell down his stairs at home. He has no family living and is divorced from the mother of his two boys, Mark, who is ten and Bill, who is eight.
The police have an interest in Tony since he had witnessed a murder of a woman by a professional hit man. The police lose interest in him when it is discovered that he lost his memory but the Sergeant, working on the case, wants him protected since he could regain his memory at any time. The Sergeant was right since Max Khan is still intent on killing Tony.
Tony has no friends within the company since he decided to become a recluse after his wife's betrayal: she kept a lover throughout their marriage proving that she married him because of his immense wealth.
With no friends or family, Tony is left alone and only one person has some understanding of his pain, Janet who works in the research department where he works. When the hospital asks someone to stay with him after he is sent home, she volunteers. She moves in to his magnificent flat in Kensington with her son Tommy for only a week. She does this with the knowledge that someone is trying to kill him.
